Why SAP exports are painful

SAP FI gives you rich accounting data — but the export path is brutal. Column headers come out in the source language (German or French depending on the client install), sign conventions differ from the French PCG standard, document types are cryptic, and account hierarchies live in a separate table you have to re-join manually. Most FP&A tools ask you to remap every column by hand, every time.

Sign convention: SAP stores debits as positive and credits as negative on most account types, while the French PCG inverts this for P&L accounts. K-Phi detects which convention your export uses by sampling known account ranges and normalizes automatically.
