QuickBooks is built for bookkeeping, not analysis. The GL report is simple — a flat list of transactions — but the analytical structure lives in Class, Location, and Customer:Job tracking, which most FP&A tools ignore. QBO and Desktop also export with slightly different column labels, and account hierarchy flattens into dotted names like "Expenses:Office:Supplies".
K-Phi's 7-pass Smart Mapper was built specifically for this. It recognizes both QBO and Desktop column formats, unflattens the dotted account hierarchy, and preserves Class / Location as OLAP dimensions.
